AB - A history of the emigration of Valentin and Anna Gertrude Ratz from Germany in 1828, based largely on the memories and family traditions contained in a 1918 letter by Jacob Ratz, who was an infant when his family arrived in Waterloo. Valentine worked as a blacksmith until 1840, when he moved to a farm in Woolwich Township and developed a sawmill one mile west of St Jacobs.
