Eby's biographical history of Waterloo Township (1895-6) in 1971, and for his genealogies of Henry H. Weber's descendants (1981) and John W. Steckle's descendants (1986), and for his service to the Ontario Genealogical Society and the Pennsylvania German Folklore Society of Ontario. Eldon was born in 1913 at German Mills (later renamed Parkway). During the later 1930s he supply-taught in various Kitchener area schools after recovering from tuberculosis. From 1940 to 1957 he was District Field Manager for the Fuller Brush Company, and then worked for the Mutual Life Assurance Company of Canada until 1987. He was active in various organizations for farm improvement (including Junior Farmers, the Waterloo County Soil and Crop Improvement Association, the Waterloo County Federation of Agriculture, the Waterloo County Hog Producers' Association, and the Waterloo County Co-Op Medical Services), as well the K-W Junior Board of Trade, and the Kitchener- Waterloo and North Waterloo Humane Society. Secretary of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener in the early 1940s, he later transferred to Waterloo First United Church and served at the conference, presbytery and general council levels of the United Church of Canada.
