TY - JOUR KW - Holocaust deniers KW - Anti-Semitism KW - Zundel Ernst AU - Patricia Hluchy AB - Ernst Zundel's trial confirms that the Holocaust is still a passionate topic. Zundel, born in Germany, alleged in his 1983 pamphlet, Did Six Million Really Die?, that only thousands, rather than millions, of Jews had been killed in Nazi camps. His claim has upset many in the Jewish community. Because Zundel states that he is innocent of deliberately printing false and provocative material, Canada must show that Zundel was aware of his information's inaccuracy before he distributed it. Assistant Crown Attorney Peter Griffiths called two concentration camp survivors to the stand who were then questioned by Zundel's lawyer, Douglas Christie. Christie also argued with Holocaust authority Raul Hilberg. The Crown had wished to avoid a retelling of the Holocaust's inhumanities, but it is obvious that this is impossible.
