Led by Abraham Feinberg, rabbi of Canada's largest Reform congregation at Toronto's Holy Blossom Synagogue, the Jewish community generally opposed this idea. But three Orthodox rabbis, Abraham A. Price, Gedaliah Felder, and Erwin Schild, supported Grew, arguing that 'the majority is free to operate schools or other public services for the best advantage of the greatest number.'
