AB - An account of the colonization project, financed by Lord Egremont and directed by the Rev. Thomas Sockett, by which emigrants from southern English counties (such as Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire) were assisted to settle in Upper Canada in the 1830s. Waterloo County is mentioned only briefly, but various local families such as the Dearlings, Tilts and Cosens came to Waterloo Township with this scheme.
