AB - A study of the general loyalty to the British Empire of German Canadian citizens and the perception of that loyalty by the Scottish citizens of Galt. The author discusses material collected from two newspapers, the "Berliner Journal" ("Ontario Journal" from 10 January 1917), and the "Galt Daily Reporter". The "Berliner Journal" was the only secular German- language paper in the county, and the "Galt Daily Reporter" was the main paper of South Waterloo and was thought best to represent the English Canadian viewpoint. Appendices present information on ethnic groups in Kitchener and Galt for 1911 and 1921.
