Five thousand copies of this translation were sent to Germany in order to encourage more emigration from Europe. In a brief appendix, Peter Eby stresses the great advantages to German emigrants of choosing such townships as Waterloo, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich, already settled by German-speaking people. He notes the special opportunities for teachers of German to make better salaries than their American counterparts.
