  abstract = {Group hatred has no rational basis. Anti-Semitism is especially vicious because of the Holocaust. A California newsletter claims that the Holocaust was a fiction invented by Jews. German-born Ernst Zundel, a pamphleteer in Toronto, was convicted under a Canadian "hate literature" statute and fined $1,000. Zundel was pleased with the outcome because he said he had been given $100,000 worth of publicity. Because the complainants had to prove the charge against him, several concentration camp survivors had to submit to upsetting cross-examination. Zundel's courtroom appearance and appeal to free speech gave him an air of respectability. Unpopular views must be tolerated if free speech is to be preserved, but sometimes it is better to ignore the purveyors of such madness.},
