  abstract = {An analysis of the 1916 Berlin assessment rolls, the first year for which there is a complete assessment record. The author concludes that by 1916 the German entrepreneurial elite was being undermined by the British element which was gradually increasing its power through control of the managerial and professional positions. Information about the occupational categories, residential property assessment, marital status, age, nationality, religious affiliation of heads of household by ward is summarized in appendices.
