An introduction, notes, maps and set of indexes to accompany and update the reprinting of Ezra Eby's {Biographical history} of 1895-6 (qv) and Joseph B. Snyder's {Supplement} of 1931 (qv). Lists are provided of the original owners and acreages of the 130 lots of Woolwich Township and the 160 lots of the German Company Tract in Waterloo Township, as well as of other blocks and tracts in Waterloo Township, such as the James Wilson Upper Block, Beasley's Middle Block, Beasley's Lower Block east and west of the Grand River, Beasley's Old Survey, Beasley's New Survey, Bechtel's Tract, Histand Tract, Bean's Tract, Beasley's Broken Front east of the Grand River, and the four Lower Block concessions. The maps include clear reproductions of each township from the Tremaine Map of Waterloo County (1861). The geographical index is organized according to the numbered family and personal entries in Eby's volumes. Eldon Weber's own meticulous cross-referencing of all persons including spouses, in the Eby and Snyder lists, is reflected in the book's detailed personal index of at least 14,000 entries, each numbered according to the order in Eby's 1895 volumes.
