He describes the quality of the land, types of fruit trees, wild nuts and berries, crops and vegetables, and the process of obtaining sap from the maple trees in the spring for making sugar, syrup and cider. Klinckhardt also notes the variety of religious and ethnic groups, particularly the Amish and Mennonite.
