Annotated references are organized in sections for: government records, business records, church records, voluntary associations, special institutions, family and personal papers, gazetteers and directories, newspapers, land records, maps and plans, architectural drawings, photographs, art works, and (artificial) compilations and collections. Each section is prefaced by an essay, and six indexes provide detailed access points for 600 corporate creators, 475 personal creators, 260 geographic locations, 460 topical subject headings, 1,250 corporate subjects, and 1,400 personal subjects. The inventory includes references to records of various kinds that relate to Waterloo County as well as Wellington County, especially in the period before 1854 when their territories were administered together, but also for families and organizations that overlapped the administrative boundaries.},
